Sildenafil citrate is typically taken at a 100 mg dosage which should be taken half an hour before sexual activity is to begin. Once taken, there is a four hour window in which the drug is active and in which a man should be able to gain an erection. Arousal is still essential for an erection to occur, so the user retains total control over his sexual experience.
